Ready For Hexagoning!

Everything is all ready for my hexagon adventure.  I have the case to store and look at all my lovely hexagons...I've got 4 in there already!  Only 1,169 more to go!  I have my little box filled with 2 1/2 inch squares to be turned into lovely hexagons.  And I made my needle book to store all my necessities.
I made a little slot to store my scissors.  and 2 more pockets for notes, thread and anything else I might need to put into a pocket.  I made it small enough to store inside the box that holds my fabric squares.  After I was done I wish I would have made it bigger.  Next time I make one it will be big enough to hold paper for jotting down notes.
Alright, I must get off of the computer and back to work on this house and getting this slideshow done so I can start sewing again!   See you soon!

Crazy Busy

I haven't been around much this week. I'm sorry! I am in charge of a graduation video for the school I used to work at. It's been a lot more work than I thought it would be and has taken every minute of my free time. I'll be back and sewing as soon as this gets wrapped up! I did finish my needlebook amd will get pictures tomorrow.

FNSI #2

Here's my Friday Night Sew In sneak peek.  I made a needle book to hold my needle, thread and scissors while I'm working on all those hexagons!  I plan on finishing up the binding and trimming all the threads tonight.  I'll share more pictures once it's finished.

I also cut some 2 1/2 squares for the hexagons.  I have about 100 fabrics cut and ready to go!

I've Lost My Mind

I'm crazy!  I have, for some crazy reason, decided to make a scrapy charm hexagon quilt...only a year after I decided I wanted to make one.  Oh, it doesn't sound too crazy.  Well what if I told you I want to make said quilt with 1 inch hexagons.  Still doesn't sound crazy?  In order to make a worth while throw sized quilt I need to make 1,173 1 inch hexagons.  Yipes!  And for some reason,  I think I can do it!  What a great way to use up my scrap bin.  Although I have one teeny, tiny, problem.  I don't have enough scraps.  I just need like a 2 1/2 inch square to make a hexagon.  If anyone has any 2 1/2 inch squares of scrap fabric they don't want let me know....maybe we can work something out?!  In the meantime my hands better get to work...lots of hexagons to get made if I want to see this quilt in the next five years!

Nest Quilt

A few weeks ago I cut up my Nest layer cake.  This weekend I finally finished the quilt and I LOVE it!  I made wonky 9 patch blocks sashed with KONA snow.  The blocks felt tedious and I don't think I would make them again.  Although I like the result so we'll see what happens!

This was a perfect quilt to use a layer cake.  It turns out pretty big, 67 inch square, great for snuggling on the couch!  I used a brown polka dot back and a solid bright green binding.  I love it!  The green gives such a great pop against the white and the brown back too.  This quilt is my new favorite (plus it matches my Wall Hanging)

Lucky Me

Yesterday there was a sew in and meeting with my wonderful MQG gals. We had a lot to do yesterday...I spent this past month creating bylaws and membership packets with what we are and a survey.  We were small with the original core group for the whole first year and we just started growing.  With that growing we needed some organization!  With the help of my wonderful secretary, VP and founder they looked and sounded wonderful!  (Thanks for the folders Emily!)

I didn't feel like I got much done.  However, I did get a quilt half finished.  I hope to get the other half done this week and then I'll share it with you!

Also, one of the members made me a wonderful Baby on the Go quilt, as she calls it. Stephanie knows my love for owls and this baby quilt is perfect.  Thanks Stephanie!

3x 6 Sampler Bee

The 3x6 Sampler Bee just started. My group looks very talented and I am so excited to be a part of it! This is the mosaic I made for inspiration.

I think I have already picked out the block I'm going to make too!!

A Long Time in the Making

Two years ago I made and hand quilted a quilt for some members of my family.  At this point I really had no idea what I was doing.  After I made all of those I wanted a hand quilted quilt for myself.  I used the Candy Shop pattern from the Material Obsession book since there was a lot of wonderful hand quilting on this quilt.

It was hard to photograph but in all of those white squares are hand quilted pictures.  There are flowers, dragonflies, and strawberries.  In all of the squares there are quilted Xs all done in aqua floss.

It's finally finished, only took 2 years to get it done!  Funny it took this long since I'm someone who can't stand to have lots of WIPs!  I must say, I'm not crazy about this quilt.  It's one of my least favorites.  But there is a special place in my heart for it since it's one of my firsts and it's all hand quilted.

I'm linking this quilt with Canoe Ridge Creations.  Hop on over and check out all the wonderfulness this week!

Some Small Finishes

Well, I still have three quilt tops, 2 are basted and ready to go....now where's that time to get them done?  Since I had these bigger projects looming I wanted some fast finishes.  So I made some things that I had wanted to make and filed away for a rainy day!

First is a selvage mug rug.  I save all my selvage's and a mug rug seemed like a perfect opportunity to use a few!

Next, I finally got around to making myself a camera strap cover.  We got this camera as a Christmas gift and I was so excited to make a cute cover for it.  I made one for my mother in law for her birthday but never made one for myself.  It's one of those projects you have to just sit down and do.  You can't plan to make one or it will never get done!  I love it!  It is just what my camera needed.  I keep wondering why I took so long to do it!

I'm linking up these small finishes....even though they aren't much!
