A Little Christmas Sewing

I finally got pictures of the table runner I made at my November Sew-In with my KMQG gals.

I used a charm pack of Kate Spain's 12 Days of Christmas.  I pieced it together in a disappearing 9 patch...my go to table runner pattern!

And we got a pretty big snowfall last night...perfect for some snowy, quilty pictures!

We got a  new toy... a wonderful new camera that my husband's family got us for Christmas. We are the proud owners of a new Canon Rebel....absolutely wonderful!  Thank you!!

(Now I just need to learn how to use it to it's fullest!)

I have a few more things to show....but they just have to wait.  I have a few gifts for people who might see this.  I also have 2 quilts that are awaiting binding, both for the baby.  I guess those need to get done now since he will be here any day now!!

Update

*WARNING*  Not so great pictures taken with my iPhone inside!  It's dark by the time I am home from work so it's hard to get a picture with good lighting!

I took a short break from my cross-stitch stocking to get some other things made.
I used this great tutorial over at Film in the Fridge to make this pillow.  I used some of my precious AMH Innocent Crush to make it.  It will match my Innocent Crush quilt (that I have yet to start!).  The pillowcase was a priority since it is going to be the pillowcase I take to the hospital with me.  I figure a wonderful AMH pillowcase will help out while I'm there!
I also got this months Guild Bee BOM finished:

Hopefully this long Thanksgiving weekend will give me some good quality sewing time.  (After the house gets cleaned, Thanksgiving dinner gets made, the Christmas tree goes up, and Christmas shopping is done)

I Really Am Working Hard....

I have been getting stuff done....just not really any big quilts.  See, I found out that little man will be home in time for Christmas and so I really want his stocking to be finished.  I had cross stitched a stocking for my hubby and myself and little man needs one too!  So most all of my free time has been dedicated to this (and if I spend all my waking minutes on it there is hope it will get done!)  In the mean time I put together this little quilt.
It was super simple and fast, just fabric cut into strips and sewn together.  The back is a super soft minkee (I learned I do not enjoy sewing with minkee, but it's softness makes it worth it!) I quilted 1/2 inch away on each side of the seam.  This quilt is smaller than a normal baby quilt, but it's good size for when he's a little bit bigger and can easily drag it around the house!  (Sorry, I don't remember the exact measurements!)   It's not my favorite thing that I've ever made, but it will make a good baby quilt.  It was so fast to make I might make a bunch more...you can never have too many quilts around!

I have another quilt all sandwiched and ready to be quilted...hopefully this weekend!  And this week fabric for the nursery will arrive and I will have yet more things to get sewn by little man's arrival.  It's a good thing I have a November sew in coming up with my KMQG gals!

Fabulous Fall Weekend

This weekend was yet another fabulous fall weekend.  I got to spend it with my family doing fall things...fall festival, farm and good food!  We are fortunate enough to have become friends with a great farming family.  During the fall there is a huge corn maze, hay rides, great food and lots of wonderful people all around.  Yesterday we spent our afternoon helping out with pumpkin sales and our evening was spent relaxing by a bonfire with smores and live music.
We even spent some time outside the haunted house listening to the screams within.

And as if that wasn't enough activity for one weekend, we spent today working on projects.  I spent some time at my machine and the hubby is working on the hardwood floors.  These wristlets are a lot bigger than they look.  They would fit all your daily necessities and then a little more!  Great for days you really don't feel like lugging a purse around.  They are both the same and so you can see the front and back here.

And now I'm spent!  I should be working around the house seeing as all kinds of family are going to be here for my baby shower next weekend....but that's just all going to have to wait!

Block of the Month Quilt

Here is my finished block of the month quilt from my month for my mod guild bee.
I chose a pinwheel block.  Unfortunately, it's been so long (my month was in March) that I can't remember where I found it or what it was called.  It was very simple using half square triangles.  It is probably one of my favorite quilts that I have made.   I used Jessica Levitt's Timber line.  I love the "tree" and nature theme.

Plume Quilt Finished

I finally finished my plume quilt....after buying the fabric 6 months ago!!  It is just a simple patchwork quilt made with 4 charm packs.  This one is for me so I can stop dragging the quilt off of my bed to the couch when I want to snuggle with a quilt!
I have one more almost finish....just need to finish the last of the binding and it will be done too!  yay!

Some Goodies

I had finally finished and delivered my mom's disappearing 9 patch table runner.

Made with a Simple Abundance Charm Pack

It looks great on the antique pub table!

Also, this week at our Modern Quilt Guild meeting we had a sew-in and pincushion swap.  Once again, I forgot to take a picture of the item I made for the swap.  But I do have pictures of the amazing pincushion I received.  It was made in a tin with a lid...great for a paranoid person with a dog and a baby on the way!!  The creator did a beautiful job making it and is really talented.

New Bag!

I finally made my Amy Butler Birdie Sling bag!  It is perfect for the end of summer and fall season and I am very excited about it!

I used some of my Amy Butler Love stash for this bag.  I used Sunspots for the bands and handle and Paradise Garden for the outside and the lining is made with Cypress Paisley all in the wine colorway.

This bag is a great bag for beginners.  The pattern was super easy to follow and very detailed.  It's not at all as difficult as Amy Butler patterns are rumored to be.  This was her first pattern that I have used and I would definitely try another one of her patterns.

Pretty Colors

I had a couple of quilts to make for a costumer with quilt tops that her grandmother made.  The two tops were identical.  I decided to make one more simple and the other stippled giving it a more busy look.  For the back of one I used the cream dots from Sandy Gervais Frolic line.  On that one I just straight line quilted and used a solid yellow binding.

For the second quilt I flip-flopped the binding and backing from the first.  So the quilts look completely different, but they still coordinate!

Again, sorry for the yuck pictures.  Not only are they cell phone pictures, but I also forgot to take pictures of the quilts before I folded them up and added the bow for delivery.  So I used my phone really fast and tried to get some pictures before I gave them to their new owner!

Simple Headband

I made this simple headband tonight.  It is only six strips braided together (to make two braids) and attached with an elastic.  Great way to use scraps (just make sure they are about 20 inches long!)

(sorry for the bad cell phone pictures!)

*this fabulous headband came from a tutorial over at Smile and Wave and can be found here!*
