A Long Time in the Making

Two years ago I made and hand quilted a quilt for some members of my family.  At this point I really had no idea what I was doing.  After I made all of those I wanted a hand quilted quilt for myself.  I used the Candy Shop pattern from the Material Obsession book since there was a lot of wonderful hand quilting on this quilt.

It was hard to photograph but in all of those white squares are hand quilted pictures.  There are flowers, dragonflies, and strawberries.  In all of the squares there are quilted Xs all done in aqua floss.

It's finally finished, only took 2 years to get it done!  Funny it took this long since I'm someone who can't stand to have lots of WIPs!  I must say, I'm not crazy about this quilt.  It's one of my least favorites.  But there is a special place in my heart for it since it's one of my firsts and it's all hand quilted.

I'm linking this quilt with Canoe Ridge Creations.  Hop on over and check out all the wonderfulness this week!

I like it! I just got the Material Obsession book out of the library. It's cool seeing a quilt out of the book made up! I'm like you, I really hate having several WIP's (which I have right now, lol). My first quilt is not my favorite either, but like you said, it holds a special place since it was the first. :-)

I love the Material Obsession book, and your handquilting is amazing! I'm in the middle of handquilting something right now, and I think it might take me 2 years, too!
