Sad

My machine is in pieces on the table.  It broke when I was almost done with my bag...booo!  Hubby took it apart to try to fix it for me.  *fingers crossed*

(would take pictures but I've got the baby in my arms...I'm not that talented!)

So Exciting!

I get so excited when I check my mail and see I have a new comment on my blog...sillly, I know, but it's nice to know people are reading and I'm not just writing to myself.  Even though that would be ok since the main purpose of my blog is to be my quilty/ crafty journal.

But anyway imagine my excitement when I opened my email to find not only a comment but an award! For my little blog!  Woo Hoo!!

The wonderful Mary Jo from All This For Them sent a Stylish Blogger Award over to me.  I found her blog recently and she does great work!  She just finished her first quilt and it looks like it's her hundredth one!  She seems ready to jump into any project with confidence and it shows.  Go over and check her out!  And while you're there look at the wonderful way she displays her little one's  art!  Too Cute!

Well onto the fine print of the award....
1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award.
2. Share seven things about yourself.
3. Award 6 recently discovered great bloggers.
4. Contact the bloggers and tell them about the award.

Onto me....it's hard to think of things about yourself....but here goes:

1.  I graduated with my degree in Elementary Education and was a Pre-K teacher for 5 years, now I'm a stay at home mommy!
2.  I just had a little boy in December and life is so  much better with him!
3.  I love purple and green and use that combo all over my house.  Although since I started quilting my color palate has expanded greatly!
4.  I love Mexican food....I could eat it everyday...and I almost do!
5.  I am president of my local MQG.
6.  I love to read in my spare time....although spare time to read has turned into reading while rocking baby!
7.  My dream is to have a very bright, modern and chic quilt store.

Well, that's me!

And now the 6 blogs I choose to pass the award onto:

Go check out these lovely ladies!  As for me, I am off to work on my Blossom's Bag...results and pattern review hopefully this weekend!

Yipes

Made a mess of my sewing area.  Cut a million 1 inch squares (that's what it feels like).  Doing the tiniest piecing I've ever done.  I am crazy!

FNSI!

Sign ups for the Friday Night Sew-In are going on now!

I signed up this go around...I have SOOO much I want to make.  With a little one always needing me it's hard to get some good, solid sewing time in.  I am going to make the most of my FNSI and have some quiet, me time.  Well, not so quiet since my "studio" is also my dining room that is connected to the living room.  But it will be time for me to ignore everything and sew!  Lets see if I can cross of some things on my to sew list....only to add on ten more things!

Finished!!!

I finally finished my wall hanging and got it hung!  I was a little unsure of it at first, but now I love it.  Sure beats staring at a plain brown wall all day!  This wall has been blank since we moved in years ago.  We just couldn't find anything that we liked that also didn't cost hundreds of dollars!  When I saw this quilt in the Dare to be Square book I knew it was going to be made into a wall hanging!  So glad it's done!

I used the Two Left Feet pattern from the Dare to be Square book.  It wasn't too bad, you just had to be sure to line up your seams or the lines would be interrupted.   That really dark color is a chocolate brown, it doesn't show up in a picture very well.  It is really hard to photograph something inside on a brown wall I found out.  So, this is what you get.  I really need to learn how to use my fancy camera to take great pictures...one day!

I'll be linking this up to Sew Modern Monday over at Canoe Ridge.  If you get a chance you should hop over there and look at all the wonderful that is linked together!

Little Update

Not too much sewing has happened this week.  Well that's what I feel like at least.  I did get mt wall hanging done.  As soon as it's hung I'll share pictures!  I also got a quilt top done for a costumer.  Hopefully I can figure out how I want to quilt it and get it delivered so I can share pictures.  So the one thing I got done that I have a picture for is a bee block for a member in my MQG.  It was a super simple block but it looks great.  I can't wait to see what all of the blocks look like together!

I must get this house in order and a shower while the little one naps.  Hubby's grandparent's are coming to meet the little man tonight!

A little thrifting and a little fabric

Off to the thrift stores I went today armed with creative thoughts, treasure hunting eyes, a really adorable baby and a good friend.  Most things were overpriced.  $15 for ugly used picture frames...no thanks!  My wall of squares will just have to wait!  But after searching two stores I found a treasure.  I LOVE Longaberger stuff, always have.  I found this old blue soup and salad bowl for $0.50!  I don't really have much of the blue but come on, could you pass it up for $0.50?  I think not!

I think the puppy though he got a new dish...sorry puppy!

I also love Amy Butler fabrics, like a lot!  I usually hoard them and not use them.  But I must say when I first saw Soul Blossoms I wasn't that crazy about the line.  Yeah, that was until I got some...I love this line.

So excited for my new fabric...and I already have plans for most of it.  I will cut into this fabric and make something, I promise.  Now if only I can find the time...that should be easy...right?!

A Dress For Miss Mango

It was time for a new dress for Miss Mango.  I never got around to getting velcro for her last dress and I was sick of looking at the sloppy, too loose dress.  She wanted something glamorous!  So ten minutes and some scrap fabric and she is ready for a night out!
I think I want a dress like this for myself!

Wall Hanging

I am *almost* finished with the quilt top for my wall hanging (yay!)  I need help now!  I have never made a wall hanging before.  I want it to be flat against the wall (no curtain rods or anything)  I also want it to be removable for when it needs to be washed.  What is the best way to prepare the backing to make a quilt a wall hanging?  And what's the best way to hang it?

**UPDATE**  Piecing of the top is all done...I just need to add borders!  YAY!!!!  I need to run to JoAnns and get more basting spray and then it's onto quilting....sooo close!!

Twin Quilts

We know a very sweet family that is expecting twins VERY soon.  So what does that mean for me....time
to make twin quilts!
Since they are having a boy and a girl I got to play with lots of different fabric!  I used the Charm Squares Baby Tutorial from Oh, Fransson!  I wanted to use pieces I had in my stash and didn't have any charms that would work.  So I pulled 5 fabrics for each quilt and made my own charm pack!  I placed them out in an ordered random way....making sure 2 of the same aren't too close together.  I FMQ them in my go-to stippling...although if I do it again I would straight line!  They are perfect size for a play mat on the floor and a good toddler sized movie time quilt when they get a little bigger.

Now lets see if  bug will let me get some work done on my wall hanging.....just 8 more blocks to piece!

Red Pepper Quilts Link Up

I have an addiction that I 'm going to share....I can't go more than a few hours without checking my reader.  I love reading other's blogs and looking at all the wonderful quilty inspiration.  I also love finding new blogs to read, but the ones suggested to me from Google Reader are sometimes way off of what I like.  Rita from RPQ has solved that problem.  She has created a link up to share your blog's link.  I linked up...now to try and not spend all morning reading all of the other great blogs that others have linked in!

Go check it out....and I dare you not to spend all day there!
